My Ex Is A Douche

An angry ex-boyfriend hospitalized his former girlfriend and her new boyfriend during a domestic dispute Thursday night on the South Side, police said.

The 40-year-old ex-boyfriend is in custody, but has not been charged as of 5 a.m., according to police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer.

The dispute started about 9:15 p.m. when the ex-boyfriend entered the residence of the woman’s new boyfriend at the 8800 block of South East End Avenue. The man found his ex-girlfriend inside the residence and began battering her with his hands and cut her with an unknown instrument, Greer said.

After forcing her outside the residence, the woman’s 50-year-old boyfriend approached the attacker and a fight ensued. The ex-boyfriend then badly beat the new boyfriend with a baseball bat, Greer said.

The boyfriend was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition, according to Greer.

The former boyfriend tried fleeing the scene with the ex-girlfriend, but crashed his 1991 Cadillac into a curb while traveling at a high rate of speed. A short foot chase ensued, and the man was apprehended by police near the 7000 block of South Dorchester Avenue, Greer said.

The girlfriend was taken in “stable” condition to Jackson Park Hospital.
